Privacy

We don’t use cookies or advertising trackers. We count clicks and page views on our own server without collecting personal data, and we only hold your details if you email us.

What we collect

  • No cookies. This site sets no cookies for visitors and loads no third-party analytics or advertising scripts.
  • Click and page counts. When you click a retailer link or view a page, our own server adds one to a counter for that page, product and retailer. We don’t record your IP address, a device ID or anything else that identifies you.
  • Server logs. Our host keeps standard access logs (including IP addresses) for security, for up to 30 days. The site is hosted by xCloud, a managed WordPress host, on a server run by Vultr in Toronto, Canada.
  • Emails you send us. Your address and message, kept only as long as we need to reply.

When you click through to a retailer

Retailer links take you to the retailer’s own site. If the link is an affiliate link, the retailer or its affiliate network may set its own cookies to credit the sale to us. Their privacy policies apply from that point.

Your rights under UK GDPR

Data controller: Alastair McDonald, trading as AMCD Solutions. Contact: [email protected]

Lawful basis: legitimate interests, for keeping server logs to protect the site and for replying to emails you send us. We don’t process personal data for anything else.

Retention: server logs up to 30 days; emails 12 months after the conversation ends.

Your rights: you can ask to see, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for a copy to take elsewhere. Email us at the address above; we reply within one month.

Complaints: if you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. We would appreciate the chance to put it right first.

International transfers: our web server, and so its access logs, is in Toronto, Canada. UK data protection law recognises Canada as giving adequate protection to personal data handled under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), in the Data Protection Act 2018, Schedule 21, paragraph 5; that recognition is the safeguard for these logs. xCloud, which manages the server, says in its GDPR policy that it relies on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses when it transfers personal data.
