Our verdict
The Series 3300 LatteGo is the value pick because it gets the most-asked-for feature right without much fuss. Six drinks sit on its touch panel (espresso, coffee, cappuccino, latte macchiato, iced coffee and hot water), each with three strengths and three temperatures. Milk comes from LatteGo, a jug of two parts with no tubes: after each drink you rinse it under the tap or put it in the dishwasher, which we think is less work than the carafes and milk pipes on most rivals. An AquaClean filter in the tank also cuts how often you descale; Philips says changing filters when the machine asks gives up to 5,000 cups between descales.
What you give up is flexibility. Milk drinks come one cup at a time, there are no user profiles, and Philips’ Coffee+ app offers recipes rather than control of the machine. The brew group also asks for more care than some: a weekly rinse, a monthly cleaning tablet and grease every two months.
Cleaning and running costs
The manual sets out a clear routine. Clean LatteGo after every use, rinse the brew group under the tap weekly, clean it with a Philips coffee oil remover tablet monthly and grease it every two months (a tube of grease comes in the box). The AquaClean filter needs changing when its light flashes, after 95 litres, and at least every three months; Brita cartridges don’t fit. Set your water hardness with the test strip at first use, because the default assumes hard water and would ask you to descale sooner than your water may need. A descale takes about 30 minutes and a whole bottle of Philips descaler. The manual warns that vinegar and several other acid descalers can damage the machine, and that skipping descaling voids the warranty. Philips doesn’t print part numbers for these consumables in the manual, so buy by name.
Owner reports
Owner reviews of this exact model were hard to read from the sources open to us. The handful we found were short and positive about the coffee, the easy cleaning and quiet running, but that is far too few to say anything about how it holds up over the years.
Who should look elsewhere
If you’d rather steam milk yourself and keep things simple, the De’Longhi Magnifica S is the classic alternative. For two bean hoppers and profiles, look at the De’Longhi Rivelia. Compare it with every bean-to-cup machine we track, see it against the Magnifica S in De’Longhi vs Philips bean-to-cup, or work out whether beans beat pods in our cost-per-cup guide.

Philips 3300 LatteGo questions
How do I clean the Philips LatteGo milk jug?
Clean it after every milk drink. LatteGo comes apart into two pieces with no tubes, and Philips says both can go under the tap or in the dishwasher. That is the whole milk-system routine, which is why LatteGo suits people put off by carafes and milk pipes. The coffee grounds container, by contrast, is not dishwasher-safe, so wash that by hand.
How often should I grease the brew group on a Philips 3300?
Every two months. Philips’ manual pairs it with two other brew-group jobs: a rinse under the tap every week and a clean with a Philips coffee oil remover tablet every month. A tube of grease comes in the box. When you put the brew group back after cleaning, slide it in until it clicks, or the alarm light will flash.
Can I use a Brita filter in the Philips 3300 LatteGo?
No. Philips’ manual says Brita filters are not compatible; the 3300 takes Philips AquaClean filters, which you activate with the AquaClean icon. Replace the filter when its light flashes orange, after 95 litres, and at least every three months. The machine must be free of limescale before an AquaClean filter is first used, so fit it at first use or straight after a descale.
How long does descaling take on a Philips Series 3300?
About 30 minutes. Run it when the Calc/Clean light comes on, using a whole bottle of Philips descaler topped up with water to the Calc/Clean mark. Set your water hardness with the test strip at first use, because the default (level 4) assumes hard water. The manual says skipping descaling voids the warranty, and that vinegar and some other acid descalers can damage the machine.
Why are all the lights flashing on my Philips 3300?
Philips’ manual suggests a reset. Unplug the machine and plug it back in, take out the AquaClean filter, reseat the water tank and clear the pre-ground coffee chute, then switch on again. If only the alarm light flashes, the brew group is the likely cause: it may be missing, badly fitted or blocked, so take it out, rinse and grease it, and refit it.
